comerzzia certifies SUSE as one of the recommended Linux distributions for testing its retail solutions

comerzzia, the native unified commerce platform, has officially certified its retail solutions on SUSE as one of the recommended Linux distributions for testing purposes. This certification responds to current industry needs and strengthens a strategic partnership with SUSE, a global leader in open-source enterprise software. Together, the two companies have worked to integrate comerzzia with SUSE MultiLinux Manager. In a market increasingly focused on operational efficiency and scalability¿especially in large food retail chains¿this move ensures a solid, fast, and standardized experience in testing and deploying comerzzia’s solutions across Linux environments. It enables centralized rollout of thousands of POS terminals with minimal manual intervention and maximum reliability.

“Our alliance with comerzzia supports our mission to drive innovation in the retail sector through open source. At SUSE, we are proud to work with partners like comerzzia to deliver secure, scalable, and robust enterprise solutions that help modernize our customers’ points of sale.” ¿ Daniel González, Account Executive at SUSE

It’s worth noting that this is not an exclusive deployment agreement. comerzzia is also fully compatible with other Linux distributions such as CentOS, Debian, and Ubuntu, and currently operates with major clients using these environments. EU OS is expected to be added to the basic testing roadmap once its final configuration is officially confirmed.

A strategic alliance with direct vendor support

SUSE was selected not only for its robustness and international presence, but also for its official vendor support, which goes beyond community-based assistance. In retail projects, where system uptime and response times are critical, having direct technical support adds significant value.

Unlike more standardized environments such as Windows or macOS¿where software certification is relatively straightforward¿Linux presents a unique challenge: there are dozens of distributions and graphical environments. In fact, comerzzia has identified over 38 different windowing systems, including KDE, GNOME, and XFCE, making it unfeasible to validate solutions across all of them. In this context, SUSE provides a much-needed layer of standardization and control.

SUSE also offers SUSE Manager, an optional but highly valuable tool that enables centralized management of multiple Linux distributions, supporting better maintenance, security, and efficiency across complex IT environments.

Additionally, comerzzia and SUSE have worked together to integrate with SUSE MultiLinux Manager, an advanced platform that simplifies the administration of mixed Linux systems, helping ensure system consistency and safety.

Proven, automated technology aligned with market needs

The automated deployment process on SUSE has been specifically designed for SLES 15 SP6, combining efficiency, flexibility, and reduced human error. An automated shell script handles the full process¿downloading, installing, and configuring the comerzzia solution¿leaving each POS terminal ready to operate within minutes, using a common base configuration.

Extensive testing has been conducted on SUSE, covering both performance and configuration aspects, ensuring a robust, reliable solution that meets the highest technical standards.

Two industry leaders with a shared vision

comerzzia’s strategy of partnering with leading technology providers is reflected in this collaboration. International consultancy Gartner recently named SUSE a Leader in its Magic Quadrant¿ for Container Management Platforms, citing its strong performance in the Kubernetes ecosystem.

At the same time, comerzzia continues to solidify its position as a reference solution for retailers seeking greater efficiency, scalability, and more agile, flexible shopping experiences.

Both companies share a clear vision: to promote innovation, automation, and fast deployment of solutions that empower businesses to move confidently through an ever-changing technology landscape.
