Currently, the role of consumers in purchasing processes is increasingly demanding, which forces retailers to innovate continuously, assuming that technology is a fundamental part of the shopping experience. To reach the development of the new Scan & Go application, with which we can provide an improved shopping experience to the consumer, a collaboration has been made with the University of Seville and the University of Loyola to carry out a series of previous studies, both to retailers As to consumers. This application allows, among other things, the following functions:
- Make the purchase in physical store, scanning the products and proceeding to the payment
- Prepare the shopping list at home, scanning the products and analyzing the previous purchases in the physical store or online
- Don¿t forget any product: the history of consumer tickets is analyzed to suggest products that could have been forgotten through the purchase assistant
- Order the home order or subscribe to a fixed order that will be sent periodically
In addition to all of the above, Scan & Go allows you to develop a loyalty strategy, where you can enjoy personalized and real-time promotions, view brochures, get points, etc.
Specifically, the study for final consumers, aims to study how consumers would accept and adopt this system, see how it would affect current processes and other consumers and the transition they would have in the sector. To do this, it has followed the following methodology:
- Phase 1: product definition and attributes
- Phase 2: concept test, where through the “focus group” technique we investigate the main attitudes and reactions of the participants regarding the adoption of this technology, its attributes and functionalities.
- Phase 3: reformulation of objectives, evaluating the conclusions of group dynamics
- Phase 4: questionnaire design to gather the necessary information, mainly, the degree of acceptance of the application in potential users and its usage rate.
- Phase 5: execution of field work and conducting interviews
- Phase 6: analysis of the results, where we have obtained dozens of conclusions, among which we highlight:
-
- 60% of respondents show a positive use intention towards the purchase assistant
- 71% have changed their facilities at some time due to waiting queues in boxes that are too long
- One of the features that we highlight is to know the price of a product at home, scanning it through the application.
